Golf - The Hills
The Hills, opened in 2007, is set over 101 hectares (250 acres) of former deer farm on the outskirts of Arrowtown in Central Otago.

The Mill race winds its way through the property and feeds the ten lakes and various ponds and waterways on the golf course. Trees, both native and exotic, are a feature of the course. The wetland area have been expanded, planted out with varieties of New Zealand flax, toetoe, the ubiquitous cabbage tree and wetland grasses and reeds. More than 50,000 red and silver tussock plants create a spectacular visual statement.

Golf - Millbrook Resort
This is New Zealand golf at its best.

Set in a natural, alpine amphitheatre, the golf course at Millbrook exploits the dramatic terrain fully, delivering world-class golf. Millbrook is quite simply a fantastic golf resort. The18-hole, par 72 championship course was designed by renowned professional and master golfer, Sir Bob Charles. It features four different tee positions for complete enjoyment at all levels of playing expertise.

Golf - Jack's Point
Set within a 3,000 acre nature preserve on the shores of Lake Wakatipu this 18 hole 72-par golf course is designed by John Darby, of Darby Partners.

The 7150 yard (6538 metre) course at Jacks has been open to green-fee players from the summer of 2008/09.

The course is bounded by the Remarkables Mountain Range and Lake Wakatipu. It traverses through wetland to the Lake edge encountering steep bluffs, indigenous vegetation and wildlife. It is designed to work with nature, not against it.

Fairways are designed with minimal excavation and careful plantings to complement the natural environment, but also to give the golfer a fighting chance.

The closing dinner and prize giving will be conducted at the Marquee, Millbrook Resort. 6pm start.

The Southern Gem golf tournament will be based at the fabulous Millbrook Resort in Arrowtown.

This is a unique opportunity to play the 3 best courses in the South Island and stay at one of New Zealand’s leading accommodation providers.

Tournament Format

The event will be played under the following conditions:

  • Competition is Stableford. Best 3 rounds of the 4 count.
  • Four Rounds of golf at the following courses. Millbrook Resort (2 Rounds) Jack's Point and The Hills.
  • Women & Men in different competitions.

Prizes given for:

  • Best scores each day at each of the golf courses.
  • Best Stableford scores over the four rounds.
  • Two's are included in your entry fee.
  • TEAM prize for best 2 players over the 4 rounds. Please enter your teams on Entry Form. Can be Women only, Men only or Mixed!
Rules / Information

Tournament Rules:

  • All players MUST be a registered golfer with an official handicap at time of entry.
  • Ties will be decided by lot.
  • The decision of the committee on all points, disputes and protests shall be final.
  • Only entries received with payment in full will be accepted.

The Southern Gem is under the ownership and direct control Peak Golf Queenstown LTD, with Tournament Director being Stephen Jensen.

Payment

$300 per person deposit is to be made at the time of entry. Please use your reference number (will be emailed to you) when making your payment.

Balance payment is due by the 20th October 2012.

Refunds

If tournament cancelled a full refund will be given.

Tournament decision will be made on the 31st of August 2012.

If player withdraws:

  • Before 20th October 2012 - Full refund will be given.
  • After 20th October 2012 - 75% will be refunded.
  • From 15th November 2012 - no refund will be available.

Our intention is to have maximum of 72 golfers in this event.
